The Creative East Awards

The Creative East Awards have been created to acknowledge and celebrate the wealth of creative talent across the Eastern region.

In 2008 businesses, individuals, organisations and future stars of the industry will compete in 16 different categories.

The Awards categories definitely confirmed are as follows:

Best Commercial Photography
Criteria: An individual photograph with remarkable impact and quality. Entrants must be based in the Eastern region.

Best Animation
Criteria: A piece of work with international appeal for use in any media, created by an individual or business based in the Eastern region.

Best Non-Broadcast Production
Criteria : A quality work created by a company or companies based in the Eastern region, for showing to limited audiences or the sell through market.

Best Broadcast Production
Criteria: A broadcast production, non-genre specific. A quality work created by a company or companies based in the Eastern region.

Best Design Innovation
Criteria: A design that enhances our lives. Entrants must be based in the Eastern region.

Best Web Design/Innovation
Criteria: Best creativity, accessibility, functionality and design by a company or companies based in the Eastern region.

Best Film
Criteria: A filmwork written, directed, produced or filmed in the Eastern Region by an individual or production company in a studio or on location.

Best Advertising Campaign
Criteria: A campaign by a company or companies based in the Eastern region – demonstrating effectiveness of the campaign with clear examples of the results achieved. Stating how it fulfils the objectives of the client’s brief and showing clearly how the effectiveness of the campaign has been measured.

Best Creative Campaign
Criteria: A campaign by an organisation in the Eastern region, where a unique concept has become the unifying theme for the campaign, has brought it to life, made it exceptional and delivered against the client’s marketing and business goals.

Best Graphic Design
Criteria: A piece that communicates clearly and concisely its message or subject matter in a strong, considered and visually attractive way – providing a clear message that fits the client’s view of itself, the company’s strategy, and the client’s desired market position. Entrants must be based in the Eastern region.


Best Architecture (Project in the Eastern region) by Architects from across the UK - including those in the Eastern region
Criteria: Entries from ARB – registered architects or practices from across the UK, including the Eastern region. A commissioned work. Not yet proceeded to site.
Convincingly presented with an exciting use of innovative presentational media.
Design excellence and innovation irrespective of style, size or complexity of build, taking into account constraints of budget, brief and timetable. The architectural ambition and ideas, design vision and innovation, its fitness for purpose, its capacity to stimulate and engage its occupants and visitors, the appropriateness of its structure and servicing systems and the selection and detailing of materials.
In 2009 the Award above will reflect built schemes, judged retrospectively from April 1st 2007 to December 31st 2008


Best Radio Programme
Criteria: Entries from radio stations within the Eastern region should consist of a single unedited extract of not more than fifteen minutes.No written submission is necessary.
Entries can be wide-ranging - funny or poignant.The programme should engage with the community it serves.A piece of “must-listen” radio.

Best Film or Television Location.
Criteria: The most creative use of an East of England location normally open and accesible to the public.
Entrants should be Feature Films, TV Series, Dramas or Docu-Dramas and must either be created or released within the calendar year 2007.

Best Factual Publication
Criteria: A publication which is accurate, well presented, clear, easy to read and gets across all key points of information and data. It should be visually appealing and pass the What? Why? Where? When? How? and (if appropriate) Who? test.

Best Exclusive Story
Criteria: The key exclusive journalistic moment of the year open to all journalists. The judges will be looking at the impact the story had on the community, how it was followed by the rest of the media, and how an individual or team's journalistic contacts were used to establish it.


Best Professional Development and Training Award
Criteria: The award recognises outstanding commitment from a creative and cultural individual, business or organisation in the East of England to support and promote workforce professional development and training. The winning entry will have demonstrated how professional development and staff training has significantly contributed to sustainable business / organisation effectiveness.

Rules & Criteria for the Awards 2008

You must complete the electronic entry form at the bottom of this page.

Entry fee £35.25 inc vat, per entry.

Entry is limited to a maximum of three entries per category per company. There is no limit on how many categories can be entered.

All entries must have been created within the calendar year 2007.

Entries should be registered ASAP at www.creativeeast.co.uk when registering you will receive a registration number by email - this number should be clearly shown on the entry when submitted. Also please state if you want your materials returned after the event.

All entries must then be submitted on DVD. We require 3 DVD’s per entry, with all necessary back-up material contained within the DVD or in published form. (any entries not submitted as above will be disqualified).

A further 30 second clip for screening at the awards evening will be required from all finalists in February 2008.

In all cases the judges decision is final.

Closing date for entries is 11th January 2008. (please phone if you have missed this deadline but are still interested in entering!)
